How To Apply Mineral Makeup in 4 Minutes to Fabulous!
Whether your kids are going back to school in-person or virtually, things on the home front are a bit busier for many of you! I remember being a busy mom doing my best to get through the hectic mornings. I had very little time for myself, but I also didn’t want to head out the door looking like I just crawled out of bed!
With all you beautiful mamas in mind, I designed the Fabulous in 4 Minutes Busy Mom Mineral Makeup Kit. This kit will allow you to get up and ready to face the world in only four minutes! I’m gonna tell you about how to do that in just a minute. But first, let me tell you what’s included with your mineral makeup kit:
- 1 Mineral Foundation in your choice of shade, either full coverage or sheer coverage
- 1 Neutral Face and Body Cream Concealer
- 1 Perfection Powder Poreless Primer
- 1 Mineral Blush in your choice of color
- 1 Itty Bitty Kabuki Brush for precise application
- 1 Step-by-step instruction card
One of my main goals with Southern Magnolia is to keep quality makeup affordable for all women. With this kit, it costs you less than $7/month to look fabulous and in mere minutes! The entire kit costs only $26.99, and shipping is on me. This will keep you in business for at least four months with daily use. Now, on to the how-to!
How To Apply Mineral Makeup in 4 Minutes or Less
Step 1) Prep
Artists know that one of the secrets to a beautiful painting is beginning with a clean, smooth canvas. Same goes for your face! Remember to always wash your hands before touching your face to keep contact with acne-causing bacteria to a minimum. Next, wash your face and apply moisturizer. (If your skin is feeling a bit rough, you may need to take an extra minute to use an exfoliant. Just remember to be gentle!) Once you’ve applied your moisturizer, let it soak in for a few minutes while you brush your teeth or--let’s be real--throw on a clean shirt.
Step 2) Neutral Face/Body Concealer
If you have any scars, redness, dark circles, or blemishes you’d like to cover up, now’s the time. If not, this step is totally optional. Dab a bit of concealer onto either your fingertip or a concealer brush. (The brush makes it easier to get those hard-to-reach places like around your nose.) Blend it in and your unwanted imperfections will be easily covered
Step 3) Perfection Powder Poreless Primer
Just like magic, a few swipes of this primer powder will reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and large pores. Simply tap your brush in the powder and lightly brush across your face and neck. You’ll notice a silky foundation application and an overall smoother appearance of your skin.
Step 4) Minerals Foundation
Take out your jar of loose mineral foundation powder and sprinkle a dash or two into the lid of the jar. Swirl the kabuki brush in the powder, then tap off the excess. Apply foundation to your face with gentle, circular motions. Continue to swirl out towards your ears, under your chin, and blend down your neck for a cohesive look. And don’t forget your eyelids! (You can even apply to your chest to cover dark spots.) Repeat this process if you prefer more coverage.
TIP: If you like a liquid foundation, try adding a dash of mineral foundation powder to your moisturizer, then smooth onto your face.
Step 5) Finishing Powder
Here it is again. Quickly brush your Perfection Powder over your foundation for a flawless finish. If you like a more dewy look, you can also spritz your face with Moisture Boost Makeup Setting Spray. Easy peasy!
Step 6) Mineral Blush
Sprinkle a little bit of mineral blush powder into the lid of the jar, then pick up the powder with your blush brush. Tap off the excess, then apply to your face beginning at the apples of your cheeks and sweeping it up towards your ears. (The apples of your cheeks should be just below the middle of your eyes.) Remember, our mineral makeup is concentrated and colors can be more intense, so start with just a little and go from there! To add more color to your face, you can also dab a little on the top of your nose, your chin, and lightly down your neck.
Step 7) Mascara
If we had more time, we’d definitely do more with our eyes using mineral eye shadows and eyeliner, but for a hectic morning, a little mascara is all we really need. Apply mascara using a zig-zag motion from the base of your lashes, out towards the ends. Repeat until you get the look you desire.
TIP: If you want a little quick color on your eyes, take a little of what’s left on your blush brush and wipe it across your close eyelids. Or dab a little on with your pinky finger. Done and done!
Step 8) Lip Gloss
By now you might be ready to run out the door, so just make sure you’ve got your lip gloss in your purse! For a sheer, natural look, dab on a little bit of Hydrating Shine Jojoba Lip Gloss. And voila! You’re good to go!
If you’re new to a regular mineral makeup routine, then your first couple of tries might take you longer than four minutes. But, before long, you’ll be a regular makeup pro, and your days of running out the door looking haggard will be a distant memory. If you don’t already have some, I highly recommend a good set of makeup brushes to get you started. I have lots of options on my website, so please let me know if you have any questions and I can help you find what you need.
I hope this helps you start the school year off right. With all that’s been happening in the world, need all the self-care we can get! Stay healthy and remember that genuine kindness is the best form of beauty.
